Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

  • It’s a great breakfast for mornings when you are short of time as you can prepare it in about 5 minutes. It is portable; pour into a travel mug and take it with you.
  • This delicious smoothie is packed with goodness. Made with delicious, juicy, sweet peaches, frozen banana, coconut yoghurt and the flavour boosters of lime juice and fresh mint leaves, it has a refreshing, tropical vibe.
  • There is no added sugar, the sweetness provided naturally by the fruit and the yoghurt and the fresh lime juice adding a delicious tang.
  • It is naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan as we have used coconut yoghurt.
  • The recipe is great to customise. You can use almost any fruit as your base. You could try apricots, plums, or berries.

Recipe Inspiration: this Peach and Banana Smoothie is the ideal breakfast-in-a-hurry. Just put all the ingredients into a blender and combine until smooth and creamy. It is a delicious, nutritious combination of sweet and tangy flavours. As well, it is a perfect afternoon energy booster or after-school refresher.

Ingredients and Substitutions:

Please see the recipe card further along in the post for exact quantities of ingredients and the full method.

Ingredients in this recipe on a white background.
  • Yellow peaches – we use fresh, juicy, perfectly ripe yellow peaches.
  • Banana – we use a frozen banana; it chills the smoothie and makes it creamier. If you have some bananas that are past their prime for eating fresh, it is a great idea to peel and then freeze them. They are perfect for smoothies.
  • Coconut yoghurt – use plain, unsweetened yoghurt.
  • Fresh mint – adds vibrant flavour.
  • Lime juice – we used freshly squeezed juice; it adds a gentle tang which balances the sweetness of the fruits.

Variations:

Peach – we have used a yellow peach, but you could use a white peach if you prefer. Nectarines or apricots are also great substitutes.

Berries – strawberries or raspberry are a great addition; they add an attractive pink tinge.

Coconut yoghurt – you can use regular Greek yoghurt if you do not need it to be dairy free.

How To Make a Peach and Banana Smoothie:

Please see the recipe card further along in the post for exact quantities of ingredients and the full method.

Steps 1-2 of preparing this recipe: the ingredients for the smoothie in a blender and the smoothie blended up.

1 – Add your ingredients to the blender:
To a blender, add all of your ingredients.

2 – Blend until smooth:
Blend until it is smooth and creamy. It doesn’t get any easier!

Tips for Success, Storage and FAQs:

Do I need to peel the peach?

You can if you like – I have done it both ways, and usually decide depending on the peach.

I have frozen peaches on hand, can I use them instead of fresh?

Yes, you certainly can, but it will then be preferable to use fresh banana. To get it to blend, you may need to add a little milk or water.

Top Tip:

As peaches are the base for this smoothie, for the best result, choose a perfectly ripe, sweet peach. I add the softer ingredients to the bottom of the blender so the frozen fruit doesn’t get caught under the blades.

I find the natural sweetness of the fruit to be sufficient, but if you prefer it sweeter, you could add a small amount of pure maple syrup or honey.

Two glasses full of Peach and Banana Smoothie, one with a straw, with some pieces of peach and fresh mint leaves on the edge.

Serving Suggestions:

To accentuate the beauty of the smoothie, pour it into a glass and add a slice of peach and a pair of mint leaves to the top.

A light sprinkle of grated nutmeg on the top adds a lovely flavour.

Deliciously creamy and easy to make, this Peach and Banana Smoothie will become a family favourite.

Please let me know in the comments below if you try this delicious, refreshing drink.
